Clinical Notes
The total cholesterol to HDL ratio reflects the balance between atherogenic and protective lipoproteins. A ratio above 5 (men) or 4.5 (women) indicates elevated cardiovascular risk; ratios below 3.5 are considered low risk. The ratio is not used for treatment targets.
